- Letters from the Coalition for American Trauma Care Advisory Council Organizations, to the House and Senate Appropriations Subcommittees on Labor-HHS supporting increased FY 2009 appropriations for the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Act programs.
- White Paper developed by the SAFECOM Emergency Response Council (ERC), supporting radio practices that minimize or eliminate coded substitutions for English, identifying the institution of “plain language and common terminology” as an important step to addressing public safety communications interoperability. The NASEMSO Executive Committee voted to support this white paper on Mar. 13, 2008.

- Letter from the Block Grant Coalition, urging U.S. Senators to to reject the FY09 Budget proposal to eliminate the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant. We urge you instead to continue funding for this important program at the FY 05 appropriated level of $131 million. This is one of the few grants that allow states to rapidly respond to public health challenges in unique and innovative ways.

- Letter from the National Alliance to Prevent Underage Drinking, supporting full funding for the underage drinking prevention activities authorized by the Sober Truth on Preventing (STOP) Underage Drinking Act, Public Law 109-422, in the FY 2009 appropriations process.
- Protecting America in the 21st Century: Imperatives for the Homeland is a white paper published by the National Homeland Security Consortium. NASEMSO is an endorsing organization of this document.
- Letters from the Friends of EMSC to the authorizing committees in support of marking up HR 2464/S. 60 and to the appropriators in support of $25 million for the program in Fiscal Year 2009. H.R. 2464 and S. 60, the Wakefield Act, is a bill to reauthorize the Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) program.

- Letter from the Coalition for Health Funding to Members of Congress, supporting an increase in funding for all aspects of public health included in the Function 550/discretionary budget allocation in Fiscal Year 2009 by an amount that will: (1) restore funding to public health programs cut in FY 2006; (2) restore lost purchasing power that flat-funding for at least five years has eroded; and (3) provide investments that begin to truly meet health challenges facing the nation. It is estimated that an additional $5.3 billion will be needed in FY 2009 to meet this goal. NASEMSO is one of 442 organizations that signed on to this letter.
